Archie’s First Holiday: April 2016

A couple of weeks back we went on our first holiday as a family of 3. When planning this holiday and trying to find somewhere to go we couldn’t decide on taking a short break in Spain or to stay in the UK. As Archie is only 13 months old we thought that the easiest and most practical thing to do was to stay in the UK. So we went to Devon, about 3 hours away from home.

I’m so so glad we decided to stay in the UK. We had such a lovely time and even though we were a couple of hours away from home, we were far enough to have a break and everything was still so familiar.

So we chose a beautiful cabin with a hot tub at Devon Hills Holiday Park so that Callum and I could enjoy it just as much as Archie. The site itself was absolutely lovely. There was a couple of play parks, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym, a pub and a little shop. Everything we needed was on site and all within a walking distance from our cabin. Just down the road from the site was Paignton Zoo and grocery stores.

We went away for 5 nights and it was just the right amount of time. Archie took to the holiday brilliantly. I thought he might be a little bit unsettled being in the same room as us and in his travel cot but he was absolutely fine. He has taken a few steps before his birthday but would only do 2/3 steps then fall. During this holiday his walking came on tremendously. He just wanted to be on his feet 24/7. In the pool area there was a baby pool which he could easily stand up in and walk about using a float to assist him. Because of this it gave him the confidence to walk outside the water and round the cabin.

Halfway through the holiday my sister came to stay with us for one night as she lives about half an hour away from where we was staying. It was nice to see her and for her to spend come quality time with Archie. I cooked us all dinner, we went to the park, went for a walk in the complex and has a drink in the pub.

We had such a lovely week and it gave us a taste of what it would be like when we move out of my parents house. Everyone in the holiday park was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We 100% want to go back again.

Love Tilly & Archie xx
